It's important to understand that COVID-19 is a virus that spreads through aerosol. The dentist office is one of the highest risk environments due to the procedures that purposely create aerosols. As dentist offices reopen for patients, it is vital to exercise precautions.

If you are feeling sick or running a fever, do not schedule an appointment unless it is a life-or-death emergency. Dental offices are screening for symptoms and will not see you if you are exhibiting any. In life-or-death emergencies you should go to the emergency room, not your dentist.

Exercise social distancing protocols. That includes wearing a mask. Several dental offices will ask you to wait in your car when arriving to your appointment to enforce social distancing.

Be patient with the dentist, these are uncertain times and new safety protocols are being enforced, it will take time to adjust and may cause a delay in treatment.
